Sarah Palin Refuses to Testify in 'Troopergate,' Alaska Attorney General Rejects Subpoenas

Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin may get some breathing space from the highly publicized investigation into whether or not she exerted pressure on former state public safety commissioner Walt Monegan to fire her former brother-in law, before ultimately releasing him of his duties in July for not complying with her request. As a result of several recent developments, the so-called ‘Troopergate’ probe could be stalled until after the November election.

Hundreds of anti Sarah Palin protesters turned out for the Alaskan Women Reject Sarah Palin rally in Anchorage on Sunday, which drew a larger crowd than the official Welcome Home Rally for the returning governor and John McCain’s vice presidential nominee. The rally was held on the lawn at the Loussac Library where nearly 1,000 fired-up women and men joined together with the singular view that Palin does not represent all women

Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin has already come under heavy fire from gay rights organizations for her history of opposing equal rights for gays and lesbians. Now, Wasilla Bible Church, where Palin has been a member for six years, is in the spotlight for its support of Focus on the Family’s upcoming ‘Love Won Out’ conference in Anchorage, Alaska. The conference is dedicated to training attendees in ministering to gays and lesbians in an effort to convert them into the ‘ex-gay’ movement.

On the heels of their outing John Edwards’ affair, the National Enquirer is sticking by claims that Republican vice presidential hopeful Sarah Palin cheated on her husband Todd with his former business partner. Now, Andrew Sullivan over at The Atlantic is claiming the rumored beau’s legal team has filed an emergency order to have his divorce records sealed.

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain has chosen Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate, his campaign announced on Friday. Palin, Alaska’s first woman governor, is a strongly conservative, pro-lifer who staunchly opposes same-sex marriage equality. McCain’s choice of Palin may be motivated, in part, by the hope she might appeal to some former Hillary Clinton followers who are not supportive of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

In the Alaska caucuses on Super Tuesday, Illinois Senator Barack Obama has taken the win in the Democratic contest over New York Senator Hillary Clinton. On the Republican side, results are still being processed in the race between former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Arizona Senator John McCain, former Massachusetts Governer Mitt Romney and Texas Congressman Ron Paul.
